Horizon Project:

Peer Review Sounding Board

You have been asked to take part in the horizon project which links students in five different countries. These students are creating wikis that help to explain what is "on the horizon" or the "Next big thing".

We have been asked to review and comment on their work. Your comments will be read both by these students and by some serious experts who are evaluating the project. Your main audience is the students. You should remember in your writing that they are working very hard and also that only 1/5 of them are from the USA.

The six projects are:
  1. User-Created Content
  2. Social Networking
  3. Mobile Phones
  4. Virtual Worlds
  5. New Scholarship and Emerging Forms of Publication
  6. Massively Multiplayer Educational Games

Your task:

1. Dividing the projects is a bit tricky as we have five classes and six projects.
Period 1: #1
Period 2: #2
Period 4: #3
Period 5: #4
Period 6: #5
Freshman Boys: #6

2. Take time to read and discuss the project with your partners.

3. Answer the following questions on your blog. Please write in MSWord first to spell check and edit. Be sure to use paragraphs and spaces between the paragraphs. Do all that crazy stuff like adding capitals to some words.

What do you think are the three key facts from the project?

Evaluate the accessibility and usability of the project (video, links, alt text, etc...)? Can you find the information easily? Is it formatted clearly?

Is there anything that you would add? There may be important links or ideas that we have covered in class that you could add to this project.

4. These will be probably be read as soon as you post them. Remember these kids have worked very hard. Give them positive, constructive feedback to help them improve their project.

Check this rubric out to see how the experts will evaluate your comments. Basically be positive!
